The plants behind our colour
The main dyeing plants in Conlemany colour. Each powder is 100% plant, with no ammonia or PPD.
Lawsonia inermis
Henna
Used to colour hair red and to cover grey. A principal ingredient in several Conlemany mixes. Lawsonia inermis has antifungal, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory properties.

Indigofera tinctoria
Indigo
Used for darker shades and a leading ingredient in many of our mixes. We only use the dried and powdered leaves of Indigofera tinctoria.

Included in all our blonde mixes. Adds a delicate hue to very light colours, and strength and vibrancy when added to any mix.

Althaea officinalis
Althaea
From the roots of the marshmallow plant. Added to our mixes to help fix a colour and lend shine and moisture. Can also be used on its own as a hair mask.

Alkanna tinctoria
Alkanna
Perfect for brown hair. Renowned for its dyeing properties thanks to alkannin in the roots, which are rich in polyphenols.

Hibiscus
A purple-red scented powder that gives shine and balances excess yellow in blonde shades. Add it to any mix to customise a tone.

Walnut
Rich in fatty acids that condition the hair and bring out natural shine. Antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that support the scalp.

Berberis vulgaris
Crespino
A sand-coloured powder that gives blonde hair ash tones. Can be added to any mix. Crespino contains barberin, used since ancient times to dye wool and silk.

A rich deep brown powder we use in some mixes for darker shades. High in tannins and mucilage — soothes irritated scalps and moisturises dry hair.

Malva Blue
Rich in mucilage, with calming, hydrating effects on skin and scalp. This flower has been used since ancient times.

Campeggio
Dried and ground bark that makes an orangey-red powder for rich auburn tones. Its name means “blood-coloured wood”.
